Welcome to the inaugural Mini Masters Cooking Competition! We are looking for stars of the culinary future this year at Coogee Live, so if you are 8-15 and love cooking, we want to hear from you! Our esteemed panel of judges will then select the top 3 dishes, these Mini Masters will be taking to the Ocean Kitchen Garden Stage in a live cook-off at the Coogee Live Festival.

To be eligible you must be aged 8-15 years old and confident to cook your dish on stage independently and within 40 minutes (using BBQ and induction cooktop). With a swag of prizes up for grabs, expect some delicious creations and plenty of #feelgood moments from our Mini Masters

1st PRIZE: $300 Voucher from Salt & Company Cooking School

RUNNERS UP: $50 Kitchen Warehouse voucher each

 

To be eligible you must be aged 8-15 years old and have permission to cook on stage at Coogee live from a parent or carer. You also need to be confident to cook your dish on stage independently within 40 minutes Pls see the fine detail below.

 

HOW TO ENTER

1 – Cook your signature dish at home. It can be as simple as a delicious signature toastier, or an extravagant main course. All you need to take into account is should be chosen as one of our 3 mini masters and invited to cook the dish on stage at Coogee live you need to be able to

  • Make sure you can cook your dish alone start to finish within 40 minutes
  • Cook your dish using the cooking equipment provided on stage (BBQ, induction hob) Please note there will not be an oven!

2- Once you have cooked your dish, then ask a parent, friend or carer to help, by creating a 1-minute video (as simple as a phone video is perfect). We want to see the dish you have made and talking about your dish, please answer the following questions in your video –

  • Who you are? Including Your name and age? Why you want to be a mini master chef ?
  • What have you cooked and why (is it a relative’s special recipe’s, something that reminds you of granny or the country you were born in, something made form produce you grew yourself, or simply your favourite thing to eat)?

3 – Please submit your video to hello@butlerandbrown.com.au before 6pm Thursday 25th February. If you need help entering, please ask a parent, teacher or friend!

WHO WILL CHOOSE THE TOP 3

We will ask our esteemed judges, (who will also judge the comp on the day) to watch the videos and select their top 3. We’re looking for personality and passion, as well as cooking skills.

We will then notify the top 3 by phone on 27.02.2021 , where they will be invited to join us at Coogee live on Saturday 6th March 2021to cook live on stage for our judges.

During this call ,we will talk through the cooking process to ensure it is clear. Including arrival time, equipment provided and what you need to bring, and any other questions you may have.

COOK-OFF LIVE AT COOGEE LIVE

The mini master cook off will be held at the Ocean kitchen garden stage Saturday 6th march AT 12.15 – 13.15. Arrival on site will be required for 11am on Sat 6th so you can meet our judges and get set up and comfortable with the surroundings. We will brief you on how the hours cook off will run and you can ask any questions you may have. Our Judges, staff and chefs will make you feel very at home! You can also bring a ‘Parental Buddy’ with you, who can stand with you on stage and give you moral support if you need, but can’t help you cook J.

PRIZES

Our top 3 mini masters will have their dishes judged live on stage and will be notified there and then who takes away the top prise of our $300 cooking class vouchers for Salt & co cooking schools. With the runners up winning vouchers to spend at kitchen warehouse to continue to nurture their love of cooking.
