Families and Children’s Services provide information and support for families in the City of Cockburn area. The City of Cockburn’s Children’s Development Officer provide information and support for families with children 0-12 years in the City of Cockburn, including: Events, programs, forums and activities e.g. Froggy’s Fun on the Green Outdoor Playgroup, free skateboard coaching clinics for 6-12 year olds, Teddy Bears Picnic and adhoc events (loose parts play, Fun with Fathers, Open days), Enews for Parents and support for schools, playgroups, childcare, other family related service providers. This year they are working with Play consultant Jonny Neen from Pause Rewind Play. Jonny is passionate about play and believes it is vastly undervalued in today’s society. He wants to help create rich play opportunities for children through provision and advocacy. He also wants to inspire professionals to implement a child-centred approach to play.
