Chef Kenny McHardy draws inspiration from decades-old dishes, some passed down through his family and others from his years in the restaurant industry. Named after his wife Jody’s grandmother, Shirley’s embodies comfort and hospitality, offering an intimate space designed to feel like a safe haven. While initially considering outdoor dining, the focus remains on a cozy indoor experience. The bar takes centre stage, with Florian, a sommelier and former restaurant manager at Manuka, curating an expansive wine list featuring selections from California, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, and Australia. Manager Ellery complements the offering with a thoughtfully crafted cocktail menu, ensuring Shirley’s is as much about the drinks as it is about the food.
