Like a beacon overlooking the ocean, Rising Lotus (2016) engages in both the myths and the aesthetics of landscape while incorporating cosmic symbolism, occult forces and a retrofuturistic feel. Artist, Tom Muller’s in-tuned and intuitive process creates an art of potential; this is a perforated look into a world co-existing with our surrounds.

Light the Night

Natural Wings – Tandem

Natural Wings combines physical theatre, comedy, intricate interactions and highly skilled, stunning aerial dance, performed directly on the white sands of Coogee Beach.

Junkadelic

The Junkadelic Brass Band is a band like no other, combining a smoking hot brass section with hard-hitting junk percussion to bring you a face-melting blend of street rhythms. Taking inspiration from traditional New Orleans street music, Junkadelic combines tasty funk grooves with Latin and hip-hop flavours to get you dancing along as they move through the festival.

Junkadelic Funkshop

Join the Junkadelic Brass Band for their Funkshop to make a junk musical instrument, learn how to play the Junkadelic rhythms and then perform with the band!  No experience necessary - open to all ages.

The Flaming Idiots

The Flaming Idiots unite to bring you a spectacular, non-stop, acrobatic feast of fire juggling, handstands, tower of chairs, hilarious physical comedy and much more.

The First Mate (Saturday)

It's nautical fun on the highest of seas when these two sailors step off their tall ship to meet the local land-lubbers. Catch them popping up in unexpected locations as they roam through the festival.

Live Painting with Jessica Swan and Kate Martin

Kate and Jessica will be demonstrating a playful live paint session using a mix of fun materials and tools to create bright, lively abstract art infused with their own personal style. The artists will be interacting with the viewers and explaining their methods.

The Lost Quays

The Lost Quays bring the tradition of the sea chanty to life with gusto, good humour and occasional mischief. Mostly a cappella, with the occasional instrumental accompaniment, the group present rhythmic and energetic songs that give insight into seafaring history and beckon the audience to join in the chorus.

Live Painting with Sandy Gaskett and Peta Ciraolo

Sandy and Peta combine the fun of painting as a team, where they’ll endeavour to create individual artworks that they hope will capture the amazing vibe found here along the Coogee coast. Come chat and watch as they paint and create original art pieces that will be available for sale at the end of their painting session.

A sultry, soft and jazzy French act with a touch of "La Vie en Rose" sung by a true French femme! Coup de Foudre features fabulous French-Australian singer Geraldine Rey and talented Mauritian-Australian pianist Thierryno Gangou.
