Raucous groove-makers and masters of fun, The Junkadelic Brass Band, are bringing their one-of-a-kind instruments made of recycled materials to the Fremantle Ports Community Lantern Parade.
Led by the fire provocateurs Dangerous Delights, the dazzling parade will feature handmade bamboo lanterns created by the incredible Noongar artist Sharyn Egan, alongside lanterns made by local artist Giovanni Sanjiva and our wonderful Cockburn Community.
Together with Dangerous Delights, The Junkadelic Brass Band will be getting the crowd started before the parade kicks into full swing, with a 20 minute warm up set starting at 7.10pm at the Endeavour Lawn. The parade will then set off on its winding journey through the Omeo Hub and down to the beach, coming to a spectacular finale at the Jetty at approximately 7.45pm.
Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, the Junkadelic Brass Band brings a unique and electrifying musical experience to the festival scene. Known for their dynamic performances, Junkadelic masterfully combines brass and percussion with an innovative twist of creativity and sustainability. Using upcycled materials to craft their percussion instruments, they blend vibrant street rhythms with the infectious beats of a New Orleans brass band, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere that captivates audiences of all ages.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Junkadelic also offers interactive workshops where festival-goers can learn to create and play their own instruments from reused materials. These workshops emphasize creativity, rhythm, and community involvement, ensuring that music becomes accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
