The Garlett family has been fostering meaningful cross-cultural connections in Coolbellup since 1986, building a legacy that continues to shape Cockburn’s future. In March 2022, Mitchell Garlett was appointed Reverend of the Uniting Presbytery of Western Australia’s Coolbellup parish, Maaman ‘O’ Miya, following his ordination in November 2021.

Mitchell follows in the respected footsteps of his late father, Rev Sealin Garlett AM, who served the community for over 20 years. With a soft-spoken yet powerful presence, Mitchell leads with an intuitive touch that honors his father’s legacy of inclusivity.

A proud Whadjuk Nyungar man, he arrived in Coolbellup as a young child, building deep connections with the community and embodying the spirit of Cockburn.
