Sculpture Culture – A Letter of Reflection by Carter

Sculpture Culture – A Letter of Reflection by Carter

A letter of reflection is about my reality of my own mental health past and present. Circus has helped me a lot, and hopefully this performance can reflect that. But, so many say and think of mental health as a journey, but a journey has an end, mental health doesn’t. It doesn’t have ups and downs for a few months or years, and suddenly the journey is over; it is something that goes on and on. That isn’t to say it’ll all be bad, it has good too, but it doesn’t end.

I hope to share and extend an invitation to feel just a little of what I have, though it’s only from my perspective, there are so many others. I hope to show that even though there will be good days, there will also be bad.

About Carter

Carter (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist who explores different art forms. They have explored visual arts, as well as theatre (Perth Festival 2023, Ngalaka Daa 2022/3), Circus (Fringe 2024) and film (Home, not a house, 2023). They are passionate about social issues, such as homelessness and advocacy, which they enjoy trying to tackle in their projects. When they aren’t practicing or working, they study Neuroscience at UWA, entering their second year in 2024. They hope to continue to create art as much as they can while fitting it around their study schedule.
